BUiLD Project Lead and Steering Group Member appointed as ISRM Visiting Fellows speak at Global Urban Resilience Conference

We announce with pleasure that Project Lead Nadine Sulkowski, F.ISRM and Wiryono Raharjo F.ISRM have been invited to join the global forum of Visiting Fellows to the Institute of Strategic Risk Management.

Fellowship: Fellow is the highest level of membership, and is reserved for people who have made an outstanding contribution to the understanding and development of strategic risk and crisis management, are respected by their fellow professionals, and have made a contribution to both the local and global community through their own activities’. 

Both spoke at the recent Urban Resilience Conference. Nadine participated in a panel discussion on future strategies to overlay academia, policy making and practitioner experience in risk and crisis management. Also joining the panel were, n Jeff Stern, Superintendent, FEMA Emergency Management Institute; Adjunct Professor, Georgetown University; Dr Eva Lazarevic, University of Belgrade; and Dr Alistair Cook, Coordinator, Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster relief Programme, Rajaratnam School of International Studies (Singapore). During the webinar, Alistair shared his insights gained from conducting a post-assessment after the triple disaster in Palu in 2018.

Wiryono participated in a panel discussion on urban resilience and community engagement. He was joined by Andreas von Weissenberg, Head of Disaster, Climate and Crisis Unit, IFRC; Sheeta Patel, Founder, Society for Promotion of Area Resource Centres (India) and Dr Rose-Ann Smith, University of the West Indies.
